In the last essay, Why Mindfulness Matters, we saw why reclaimed presence multiplies impact in the corporate arena. That piece closed with a promise: the sacred, repeatable practices to embody BeLucidNow daily. This is that next step.
“The quieter you become, the more you can hear.” - Ram Dass
We’ve reclaimed the essence and seen its profound power. Now the sacred circle completes itself through embodiment. In my daily life, rising with the sun for NASA rituals (explained below), weaving self-enquiry into emails, turning meeting pauses into moments of presence, BeLucidNow transforms “work” into sacred flow. Join me in this alchemical shift. These are not abstract theories; they are lived practices I use and share, turning ordinary workdays into a perpetual sabbatical of calm mastery and radiant purpose.
Overcoming Barriers to BeLucidNow
“Anything you can be aware of, you cannot be.” - Nisargadatta Maharaj
The path to lucidity isn’t blocked by external chaos; it’s obstructed by inner habits. Common traps include:
The “need to know”: constant mental grasping for certainty. Such certainty is non-existent in the real world.
Fixations: dwelling on stories of “me” and “mine.” Most of our thoughts are of this kind.
Head-dwelling: living in thought instead of the body’s now. Whenever we’re thinking, we’re in our head.
Projections: seeing the world through old lenses of fear or lack. An opportunity to catch ourselves weaving all kinds of stories.
From my retreats and coaching sessions, I share: these are illusions. They dissolve the moment we observe them gently, without judgment. BeZenDo gives us the antidote:
“Be” reflects on patterns, visioning freedom from them.
“Zen” witnesses without grasping, simply noticing the trap arise and pass.
When a client says, “I can’t stop thinking about the deadline,” I invite them: notice the thought, feel it in the body, return to breath. The grip loosens. The barrier becomes a doorway.
Core Practices Mapped to BeZenDo
“The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” - Lao Tzu
Here are the practical tools, step by step, repeatable, and designed for busy lives. Use them in meetings, commutes, emails, or quiet mornings.
Be: Visioning the Center (NASA as the Daily Foundation)
The day begins with NASA, my signature morning anchor that sets the tone for everything that follows. NASA stands for:
Now: Arrive fully here, no past regrets, no future worries.
Alert: Become softly alert. What inside you is awake?
Spacious: Expand awareness to include body, breath, sounds, sensations.
Awake/Aware: Rest as the spacious awareness holding it all.
Spend 2 to 5 minutes each morning sitting quietly, breathing, and activating NASA with clear intention: “I am lucid presence today.” This isn’t just a warm-up; it’s the foundation. It tunes the nervous system to presence before the inbox, meetings, or demands begin. With the day anchored in NASA, the remaining practices become natural returns, gentle re-alignments whenever the mind drifts.
One client, an executive facing a high-stakes business meeting, used NASA before the meeting. She visualized calm lucidity, activated the practice, and walked in unshaken. The call flowed effortlessly; her clarity and poise inspired the team.
Zen: Witnessing in the Moment (Somatic Enquiries)
Throughout the day, return to the body when reactivity rises. Try these:
“Notice what is noticing”: Shift from thought to the awareness behind it; be it.
“Operate from the abdomen”: Drop attention to the hara (lower belly); feel grounded wisdom.
Pure listening: In conversations, drop the inner commentary; just receive.
“Who am I?” Ask gently; let the question dissolve the “me/mine” story.
During a tense stakeholder meeting, I once felt irritation rise. I paused, breathed into my abdomen, and asked “Who’s feeling this?” The anger passed like a cloud. I responded from clarity instead of reaction, turning conflict into alignment.
Do: Habit Anchors and Micro-Applications
Embed lucidity with simple triggers:
Index-finger/thumb touch plus a whisper of “NASA” to return instantly to your still center.
In meetings: Treat them as awareness fields; notice breath, body, others’ energy.
Commutes: Turn traffic into no-time meditation; feel the seat, sounds; be the presence.
Emails: Pause, breathe, respond from your calm center.
During a 3-hour strategy session, I noticed fatigue and mental drift creeping in. I touched finger to thumb, whispered “NASA,” felt my abdomen ground, and presence return. The rest of the meeting flowed with ease and insight.
A simple table for daily integration:
These aren’t rigid rules; they’re invitations. Start with one. Notice what shifts.
Call to Action and Eternal Close
“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing there is a field. I’ll meet you there.” - Rumi
Beloved, begin now: one breath, one enquiry. Try a single practice today: NASA in the morning, abdomen drop in a meeting, finger trigger on a call. Notice the shift. No perfection required; just gentle return.
One breath today becomes calm confidence tomorrow, effortless flow next week, radiant purpose next month. Small steps accumulate into profound transformation. From autopilot to aware mastery, your lucid leadership blossoms, and blooms eternally. The corporate arena is no longer a battlefield; it’s a field of presence, where calm confidence, effortless flow, and radiant purpose become your natural way of being.
The journey is complete the moment you recognize: You are already home.
What Be, Zen, or Do practice will you try today?
